Plot Summary
The movie follows the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and their allies as they face various enemies and challenges in their quest to defeat Lord Cutler Beckett and his East India Trading Company. The movie has several twists and turns, as well as some humorous and emotional moments. Here is a brief summary of the plot:
The movie begins with Beckett executing anyone associated with piracy, including Governor Swann, Elizabeth's father. Beckett also has control over Davy Jones and his ship, the Flying Dutchman, which he uses to hunt down pirates.
Barbossa, who was resurrected by Tia Dalma, leads a rescue mission to save Jack from Davy Jones' Locker, where he was dragged by the Kraken at the end of the previous movie. They use a map that shows the way to the Locker, which is a surreal desert world where Jack is trapped with multiple copies of himself.
Will, who wants to free his father Bootstrap Bill from Davy Jones' servitude, joins forces with Beckett in exchange for a pardon. He also betrays Jack and Barbossa to Beckett, hoping to use the heart of Davy Jones to control him and his ship.
Elizabeth, who feels guilty for Jack's death, joins Barbossa's crew as a pirate lord. She also falls in love with Jack, despite being engaged to Will.
The crew travels to Singapore to meet Captain Sao Feng, another pirate lord who has a ship that can sail to the Locker. They also encounter Beckett's men, who are looking for the nine pieces of eight, which are tokens that can summon the Brethren Court, a council of pirate lords.
The crew reaches the Locker and rescues Jack. They also find out that Tia Dalma is actually Calypso, the goddess of the sea, who was imprisoned by the first Brethren Court in human form. She promises to help them against Beckett if they free her.
The crew returns to the living world and sails to Shipwreck Cove, where the Brethren Court is held. They also face attacks from Beckett's fleet and the Flying Dutchman, which is now manned by a mutated Bootstrap Bill.
At the Brethren Court, Jack and Barbossa argue over who should be the Pirate King. Jack gives his vote to Elizabeth, making her the Pirate King. She then decides to fight against Beckett, rather than hide in the Cove.
The pirates free Calypso, who turns into a giant crab and creates a massive maelstrom. The Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman enter the maelstrom and engage in a fierce battle.
Will proposes to Elizabeth and they get married by Barbossa during the fight. Jack helps Will stab Davy Jones' heart, killing him and making Will the new captain of the Flying Dutchman.
The Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl emerge from the maelstrom and join forces to destroy Beckett's flagship, the Endeavour. Beckett is killed by a cannon blast from the Flying Dutchman.
Will and Elizabeth spend one day together on an island, before Will has to leave for his duty as the captain of the Flying Dutchman. He gives Elizabeth his heart in a chest and tells her to keep it safe. He also tells her that he can only return once every ten years.
Jack steals the map to the Locker from Barbossa and sails away on a small boat. He plans to find the Fountain of Youth, which is shown on the map.
Barbossa takes command of the Black Pearl and sails away with his crew. He also reveals that he has stolen Jack's compass, which points to what one desires most.
Elizabeth raises her son with Will's heart, waiting for his return. In a post-credits scene, she sees Will's ship on the horizon after ten years.
