When God Calls You to Something You Can't Do

When God Calls You to Something You Can't Do

Have you ever noticed that when God calls you to something, the first thing you realize is you can't do it? This isn't a problem—it's a pattern. And it should be the pattern of your life.

The Pattern of Divine Calling

If God has called you to something that you can accomplish alone, it's probably not a God calling. Kingdom business always requires the participation of other people and the King himself. You cannot do Kingdom business without the King involved—it's a family business, and He monitors His employees quite well.

How Angels Respond to God's Word

Angels Obey the Voice of His Word

Psalm 103:20 reveals something transformative: "Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word." Notice the specific wording here—angels don't just obey God's voice or His word alone. They obey "the voice of His word."

This means when God's word is spoken, heaven recognizes the authority of that word. Angels respond to Scripture spoken with faith, whether it comes from God's throne room or from our mouths. When we release the voice of God through declaration, we create transportation for heaven to move on our behalf.

Why Confession and Declaration Matter

Heaven responds when Earth gives voice to God's Word. Angels are not moved by complaints—they are moved by Scripture spoken with faith. If you've never given voice to the Word, heaven has nothing to move on. When you declare God's word in alignment with His kingdom, angels move on your behalf.

God Always Funds What He Commands

The Genesis Pattern: Blessing Before Command

In Genesis 1:28, we see God's original pattern: "God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.'" Notice the order—He blessed first, then commanded. God never gives a command without attaching a capacity.

Before the assignment came the blessing, because God always funds what He commands. If it's His will, it's His bill. The blessing provides the capacity for the command that follows.

Authority Comes with Territory

When God gave Adam the command to subdue, He also gave him his territory—the earth. Adam had authority to name the animals because they were under his dominion. What you have authority over, you can name and claim.

Too many believers try to subdue things that belong to someone else or go beyond their assigned capacity. This leads to territory wars with people they were called to partner with as neighbors.

Jesus and the Disciples: The Same Pattern

Commission, Command, Capacity, Conquest

Jesus followed the same pattern with His disciples. First, He called and authorized them (Mark 3:14). Then He gave them clear instructions and authority over unclean spirits (Mark 6:7). He empowered them to accomplish the assignment before sending them out.

The Great Commission follows this same structure: Jesus received all authority, then commissioned the disciples, gave them the Holy Spirit, and sent them to make disciples of all nations.

From Genesis to the Great Commission

Garden Restoration

The Great Commission is actually the restoration of the Genesis command. Adam was told to fill the earth with humanity. The church is told to fill people with the kingdom. Genesis said multiply people; Jesus said multiply disciples.

In Genesis, we were given authority to subdue the earth. In Christ, we're given authority to subdue the spirits that hijacked the earth. We're called to remove natural culture from people and establish kingdom culture in them.

Understanding Your Capacity and Territory

Stay in Your Lane

God has given each of us specific capacity and territory. Stop trying to match everyone else's capacity or take territory that belongs to another believer. Run the race God has called you to in the lane He has assigned to you.

Only Take Counsel from the Fruitful

Too many people want validation from those who have never produced fruit. Everyone has an opinion, but only the fruitful have authority. Don't take counsel from people who have no harvest—take it from people who have fruit or are willing to help you harvest.

Overcoming Obstacles in Your Race

Sometimes what looks impossible is simply a matter of strategy. Like a stone door that appears immovable but is actually on a hinge, God has already prepared a way through the obstacles in your path. The walls that seem insurmountable may just need a push to collapse.

God has blessed you first, then commanded you. He will never command you without blessing you first. This gives you access to overcome every obstacle in your assigned territory.

Life Application

This week, identify the specific calling or command God has placed on your life. Before you focus on the obstacles or your inability to accomplish it, look for the blessing and capacity He has already given you. Stop trying to operate outside your assigned territory or capacity.

Begin declaring God's word over your situation with faith, knowing that heaven responds to the voice of His word. Remember that if God has commanded it, He has already provided the capacity to accomplish it.

Questions for Reflection:

  • What has God called you to that seems impossible in your own strength?

  • What blessings and capacities has God already given you that you might be overlooking?

  • Are you trying to operate in someone else's territory instead of your own assigned lane?

  • How can you begin giving voice to God's word in your current situation this week?
