Understanding the Ecclesia: Your Role in God's

Kingdom Government

The church is entering a divine season of transformation, moving from traditional congregational models into the fullness of what God intended - a governing body with spiritual authority. This shift requires understanding what it truly means to be part of the ecclesia and how to operate as kingdom citizens.

What Does Ecclesia Really Mean?

When you see the word "church" in your English Bible, the original Greek word is "ecclesia." This isn't just a group of people meeting weekly for services - it's a governing legislative body with real authority.

In ancient Rome, when the Senate met to discuss laws and regulations that would be enforced across the empire, they were called an ecclesia. They were a governing legislative body who set rules and legislation in motion.

Your Words Have Legislative Power

As believers created in God's image, our words carry power. When we decree something into the atmosphere while aligned with heaven's kingdom, we are literally legislating that word into existence. The spiritual realm responds to our declarations.

Where two or more agree as touching anything on earth, it shall be done by our Father in heaven. When we align our words with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we exercise legislative authority that heaven backs up through angelic activity.

However, this works both ways. When we complain, grouse, and speak negative words on social media or in conversation, we're giving demons permission to partner with us to make those negative declarations manifest in our lives.

Kingdom Citizens vs. Church Members

A Kingdom is Only as Good as Its King

One of the biggest problems in modern church is looking at pastors or leaders as the king, when they are actually commanders and generals positioned by the true King to lead according to His plans and character.

In biblical times, when there was corruption in the king's palace, the entire nation became corrupt except for a few chosen ones. We must look to our King first, then fall in line with the commanders we sit under.

Everything Flows from the King

In a true kingdom, everything is shared and comes from the king. He owns it all and distributes as needed. As kingdom citizens, we should look to our King for:

  • Provision and breakthrough

  • Power and authority

  • Restoration and healing

We must enter the throne room as children and heirs, not as beggars on the street waiting for something to happen.

Growing from Spiritual Infancy to Maturity

Different Levels of Spiritual Development

The church contains believers at various stages of maturity, just like a family has babies, toddlers, teenagers, and adults:

Babies need to be fed the milk of the Word. They can't grab the bottle themselves - everything must be prepared and given to them.

Toddlers can pick up the spoon but make a mess. Their food must be cut up and prepared, and they need protective boundaries.

Teenagers (Technon) can feed themselves without making a mess, but they don't prepare their own food. They rely on the five-fold ministry to provide nourishment. Left alone, they eat spiritual "junk food" because they don't know better.

Mature Sons and Daughters (Huios) know how to receive from the five-fold ministry, prepare spiritual food for themselves, and feed others around them.

The Problem with Perpetual Spiritual Teenagers

Too many believers remain stuck as spiritual teenagers for decades, constantly saying "feed me, feed me, feed me" instead of learning to study God's Word for themselves. This creates a dangerous dependency that leaves them vulnerable to poor doctrine and spiritual malnourishment.

Operating as Ambassadors of Christ

You Were Chosen, Not Self-Appointed

Unlike politicians who choose to run for office, ambassadors are selected and chosen. God chose us as His ambassadors - we didn't volunteer for the position. He sought us out because He wanted relationship with us.

Kingdom Provision for Kingdom Citizens

When a country sends an ambassador to represent them in another nation, that ambassador doesn't worry about rent, food, or transportation. Their home country provides everything they need.

As kingdom citizens and ambassadors of Christ, we shouldn't be anxious about basic needs like food, clothing, or shelter. Our King takes care of these things so we can focus on our assignment: recruiting others for the kingdom and spreading the gospel.

Finding Your Place in the Body

Stop Idolizing Certain Gifts

Every part of the body is vital. The mouth isn't important if the mind doesn't work. The hand is useless if the elbow is broken. Some believers want to be the "seen" parts while despising the "hidden" parts, but every gift and calling is necessary.

Don't be upset if you're asked to clean toilets or distribute bread. The only unnecessary thing is continuing to sit in the pews doing nothing.

Your Assignment Comes from the King

Your position and calling come directly from God, not from human appointment. If you're looking for a position instead of seeking the King for your identity, you'll never walk in proper alignment.

When dissension comes between the king and commanders, chaos follows. Stay aligned with what God has called you to be, not what others expect or what looks impressive.

Understanding Divine Timing

A Blessing Too Soon is Still a Curse

Many believers receive prophetic words and immediately try to walk them out without understanding God's timing. This leads to falling flat, stirring up more demons than they can handle, and needing rescue from spiritual leadership.

Learning from Biblical Examples

Joseph received powerful dreams but was out of timing when he shared them. His immaturity led to slavery and prison before his promotion.

Moses knew he was called to deliver Israel but acted in his own timing at age 40, leading to 40 years in the wilderness.

Both men had to learn patience and God's timing before stepping into their destinies.

How to Discern God's Timing

When you receive a word from God:

  • Ask Him what to do with it

  • Find out who to share it with (if anyone)

  • Determine if you should just pray through it

  • Understand what it really means

  • Get clear direction on timing

Stay in God's presence and follow His directive. If He says to shelf something, leave it there until He says it's time.

Life Application

This week, commit to growing from spiritual dependency to spiritual maturity. Stop relying solely on pastors and leaders to feed you spiritually. Begin studying God's Word for yourself, asking the Holy Spirit to teach you directly.

Evaluate the prophetic words and direction you've received. Are you trying to force something in your own timing, or are you waiting on God's perfect timing? Practice asking God specific questions about His words to you and listening for His responses.

Most importantly, align yourself with the King rather than seeking position or recognition. Focus on your assignment as His ambassador rather than worrying about provision or status.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Am I operating as a spiritual baby, teenager, or mature son/daughter of God?

  • What words or callings have I received that I need to bring before God for timing and direction?

  • Am I more concerned with following online ministries than understanding what God is doing in my local house?

  • How can I better align my words and declarations with heaven's kingdom rather than speaking complaints and negativity?
